Overview - Swifts Learning Disability Service - NHS.
Swifts are iconic summer visitors who brighten our skies with their high-speed aerial antics. They are often noticeable at dusk; on a warm evening, look out for dark scythe-shaped birds, darting around rooftops forming “screaming parties.” Being the last migrant to arrive and the first to leave, they are heralded as a true sign of summer. Swifts are the fastest bird in level flight.

Learn more about Swifts from our inspirational guest speakers, Kiki Maurey of Lyndhurst Swift Action and the world-renowned Swift expert Edward Mayer of Swift Conservation, and catch-up on the activities and future plans of Hampshire Swifts. Talks will start at 1330. There will also be an opportunity to “meet the experts” and explore the different ways you can help Hampshire’s Swifts.

The result was a resounding success, almost 150 handcrafted nest boxes are ready for the swifts this summer and can be found across the borough. These nest boxes will be vital for supporting these incredible migratory birds, as they can replace lost nesting sites and provide secure homes for swifts to safely raise their fledglings. This will help towards building back up our swift population.
